Cooper Flagg gets unwavering support from billionaire Mark Cuban amid Dallas Mavericks' tough stretch

The Dallas Mavericks enter tonight's game against the Houston Rockets with just two wins and four defeats. Despite having several star power in the roster, including Anthony Davis (now sidelined due to a low-grade calf strain) and, of course, the highly anticipated Cooper Flagg , the franchise is yet to satisfy the fans.

The No.1 pick has been on a bit of a rough stretch as he attempts to shoulder the responsibility of the team amid Kyrie Irving’s extended absence. Flagg, despite his rough outing in the recent games, is still dominant in the ranking, sitting just behind LeBron James in the ‘notable NBA 18-year-olds’ through six career games list. As the list appeared online amid the Mavericks' latest struggles, the franchise’s minority owner and billionaire, Mark Cuban , shared his honest thoughts on the most hyped rookie in the league.

Mark Cuban extends heartfelt support for Cooper Flagg

It is not easy to be in the Dallas Mavericks as the fans of the franchise are desperately looking for a miracle to fill the void left by Luka Doncic. While Cooper Flagg’s arrival showed hope, it was not enough considering his rough recent outings. Through his first six NBA games, Cooper Flagg has delivered mixed results for the Dallas Mavericks. The rookie forward is averaging 13.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists while shooting just 37.3% from the field and 28.6% from beyond the arc.

Mark Cuban, however, thinks the rough stretch is nothing but momentary, as he quickly reacted to the Mavericks rookie’s ‘notable NBA 18-year-olds’ record. Taking to X, the billionaire wrote, “No question. @Cooper_Flagg is the real deal.”

Of course, Flagg is still on the stage of adjustment, and he needs time to adapt to the level of the league. "It's a tough league," Flagg said recently, following the criticism over his performance.

"It's a transition. Honestly, I haven't made a lot of shots or been as efficient as I would've wanted to, but I'm gonna keep trusting the work. It's nothing, I think they should be worried about. I'm not worried about anything. Just gotta keep getting better looks, keep being aggressive, and trust the work," the 6-foot-9 forward added.

Ex-Dallas Mavericks star gives honest opinion of Cooper Flagg’s role in the franchise

Ex-Dallas star Shawn Marion believes that Flagg’s recent outings have been bumpy, but it does not mean that he does not have what it takes to be in the league. “He’s been put in a position to be more of a facilitator, Marion explained, recalling Flagg’s dominance in college basketball.

In the conversation with the Mavs beat writer, Mike Curtis, Marion added, “He did it naturally at certain times in the game when he played in college. But he’s had to be the main person at times here. And he’s doing very well with it.”

Of course, Flagg has a long way to go, and certainly the road will be bumpy, but the rookie must stay focused to silence the critics.
